Drugs and the Paranormal

ESPRS comments on the use of Hallucinogens and other drugs while researching the paranormal
President Peter Dowling had this to say:
I've heard people in the paranormal community talking about taking Hallucinogens or other mind-altering drugs to enhance their spiritual awareness and/or to visit other dimensions.
Personally, I advise people not to do so! When a body is under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol it can leave the body helpless to possession with entities. If you want to hunt ghosts it is best not to be under the influence of any substance.
The Paranormal Science has a hard time in this world to being labeled as "Credible," no one would believe me scientifically if I saw a ghost while being on any type of drug. No matter what you hear, don't do it. I'm not saying this to control other people; I'm saying that there are documentations of possessions, and/or people going mad in a cemetery while under the influence of LSD or Angel Dust.
Some self-appointed scholars state that the people that have these problems usually have a weak mind. These self-same scholars forget, it's not necessarily the mind that is involved, but also the body chemically as well.
I was on Coast to Coast Radio a few nights ago and I went "toe to toe" with Author Graham Hancock. I was cut off and my words were twisted by the Author so he could have the upper hand in my dispute with his Theories. He was speaking on a Religious level, where I was speaking on a Scientific Level. George Noory (Radio Host) had to get to other phone calls, so I was clicked off the "Air."
Graham Hancock endorses using Peyote and other Ancient Mind Alternating Shaman Substances. All I can say is this; when he comes to Upstate NY, I'll let him come to my house and he can take what ever hallucinogen he wants to. Then I'll take him to one of the most haunted cemeteries in Upstate NY, and I will prove that his theory is way off course. We can look at ancient scribbles or writings on rocks, or even write a few books... however, that does not make us experts in the field of the Paranormal.
Vice-President Cori Dowling’s opinion:
As a certified Herbologist, and a reasonable expert in the paranormal field from the psychic point of view, I too believe that the use of illegal or legal drugs, and/or the use of other mind-altering substances such as alcohol and cold medicine, along with going out to a potentially haunted place, is a dangerous practice. I do not condone such a thing.
Historically, there have been religions that use mind-altering substances to gain access to the “other side” as it were, to speak with teachers, Guides or relatives that have crossed over. While it’s an accepted practice among shamans of those religions, a caveat to the casual user of mind-altering substances should be listened to. These shamans have had years of training, years of experience and are doing said substances in a safe, observed environment, and there are a lot of things that need to be done physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually before the drug is taken.
Using mind-altering substances isn’t advised for the average Joe or Jane when out on a hunt for paranormal activity. Doors can be opened to worlds that not even the Christian Devil himself would tangle with.
It’s a weak mind that makes the assumption that the other side is full of nothing but angels, faeries, and other happy, shiny things that are fluffy, cute and won’t hurt us. Yes, there are teachers and Guides on the other side, but there are also entities that would like nothing else but to destroy the human that is attempting to bridge the gap between worlds.
Even when I channel spirits and work in my field as a medium, I do not use any mind-altering agents, nor do I attempt contact when I am physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually not feeling well. It’s just not a safe thing to do.
The human body is an amazing machine, with great spiritual energy and the capability to bridge the gap between worlds without the use of drugs, alcohol or other substances. It just takes time, patience and meditation; in other words, a lot of work.
This Graham Hancock person seemed to be, in my opinion, a bit “hopped up” when he was on the radio program, and very irresponsible. To push any sort of drug on a person, and then make the claim of “seeing the other side” through use of said drug seems to be a bit on the Snake Oil Salesman side of the paranormal scale. People need to listen to reason, and that was not reason. It wasn’t even a modicum of intelligence.
THESE DRUGS HE WAS PUSHING CAN BE FATAL. I, for one, would not want to be responsible for someone’s death if I pushed a mind-altering substance, promised a free trip to the other side and then the person who took my substance decided to take up a permanent residence in the realm of the spirits.
There is no “magic pill” for contact with the other side, nor a magic drink, drug, etc. By the use of your mind, your soul, your spirit, (and perhaps some drumming or music) and your own abilities inherent in the soul of every human being, contact with the other side can be achieved, drug-free, safely, and without too much risk.
I always take a risk when I contact the other side when in trance. There is no telling what can happen; but knowing that I am not on anything that chemically makes me unable to control myself in the realm of the spirit world makes it much easier for me to come back from where I was and return to “reality.”
In short; if you are wishing to research the paranormal, do it straight, clean and without drugs, alcohol or other mind-altering substances. It is a weak mind that resorts to crutches like these to contact the spirit realm, not the other way around.
Namaste..
